Things I Love This Thursday

The CDC has this alarming fact sheet posted on their website in regards to childhood obesity. The main fact that caught my eye was this:

"The percentage of children aged 6–11 years in the United States who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to nearly 20% in 2008. Similarly, the percentage of adolescents aged 12–19 years who were obese increased from 5% to 18% over the same period."

Over the past few years there has been many debates over school lunch versus lunch packed from home. Which one is more nutritious and balanced? School lunches can consist of processed chicken nuggets, frozen vegetables, french fries, and ice cream. On the other hand you also have lunch boxes from home being filled with twinkies, chips and sugary drinks. Sometimes getting your younger children to eat healthy foods can be tricky. Here are a few ways to pack a healthy and affordable lunch for your tot.

Things I Love This Thursday

Spring and summer are right around the corner; temperatures will soon be rising. Who says it needs to be warm to enjoy a fresh homemade Popsicle. Popsicle molds can be purchased seasonally at your local dollar store, Target, and online year around. The best part is you can fill the molds with anything that tickles your taste buds while keeping healthier than traditional sugar loaded popsicles. Yogurt and fruit create a fresh creamy treat or if you want something refreshing try sweetened cucumber water with fresh ginger. The possibilities are endless so here are a few to get you going. Enjoy!

If you don't have popcicle molds handy you can always stick a disposable spoon in a pudding cup and freeze it.....instant popsicle!

Send me pictures of your frosty creations and I will post them.

Things I Love This Thursday

Thinking outside of the box is a must when designing a logo. A design that is fun, unique and memorable to your target audience is your goal. While searching for the perfect business card I came across a website with the most creative cards. I just had to share.

~Things I Love This Thursday~

After a peak in my closet you would notice that I don't own anything yellow. I favor blue, brown, cream and earthly greens with an occasional splash of fun and funky color. Recently my heart has been melting for anything mustard yellow. Look in the shop soon for something yellow.

What's your favorite color these days?
